Chasing Smoke

words

by Alesia Tarkington

These words are but a

dream transcribed:

letters making

hazy sketches of images

holding uneasy negotiations with

thought

unintentional deceptions

designed to elucidate

that which must be

decoded

a core buried deeper and

further abstracted into nothingness

to arrive at the real meaning

an incomplete somethingness

standing in the shadow of

all that is.

Timeskip

spring green

by F.X. MacKenzie

Blacktop reeling out over

miles of mountain

like some twisted,

dizzy serpent

I am

drunk on the color

of spring green

Mingling with the souls

of dead trees

Fragments of a dozen dreams

playing déjà vu

among the pines

Didn’t I know you there?
