Becoming Zero

Hunter MacKenzie

All the iron of my Will
and blood
drawn to your magnet,
my love,
my god
I will
die for this
I am
Becoming zero
I will not
leave a trace to draw me back here
Whisper my name into the cloak of oblivion
Turn away from the books
Cast the music into the restless air
Photographs transmuted to ashes
A locked trunk full of notebooks
buried in a shallow grave
deep in the woods
or sinking like slow heavy stones
down to the bottom of a lake
and I am
nothing
I am
free
I am
gone
and we are
One.
